The Team
Shane Dalgleish - Creator / Coordinator
Having been Veg*n for more than half of his life, Shane realised at a very young age that he didn't wish to contribute to the suffering of animals and the impact that such an inefficient food source has on the environment. He only joined the Vegetarian / Vegan Society in 2006 having moved to Brisbane "for a change", and very quickly became heavily involved with all activities. He was elected Vice-President of V/VSQ in December 2006 and has now found himself travelling around Australia as a full-time (volunteer) campaigner for animal rights. He continues to support his love of fine Cognac by programming computers on the side, his previous full time job. Drew Fryer - Volunteer Coordinator / Media Hound
Hailing from Sydney, Drew jumped at the chance of being part of the Human Battery Cage tour within minutes of hearing about it, having previously met Shane at a protest in Brisneyland. Former banker, long-time animal rights and environmental activist, Drew coordinates volunteer involvement, writes random tit-bits for the website and generally makes a nuisance of himself. Heather Blyth - Location Coordinator / Super Chef
Also a previous dweller of Brisvegas, Heather dropped a pretty cool job in a health food store to jump onboard the tour bus to help out the poor lovely chicks confined in battery cages. She's still studying flower essences on the road. Along the path of the cages she'll be behind the video camera catching footage for the upcoming documentary of our travels and campaign. Of course too she'll surely be the designated whipper-uperer of vegan deliciousness from kitchens and roadsides Australia over! Your Name Here?
That's right folks, The Human Battery Cage is always on the look out for people who's unique skills could be utilized on this tour. You may be amazingly organized, really good with people, confident with talking to the media or just have the ability to carry heavy things, we may need you! This is an unpaid volunteer position, however, all your expenses will be taken care of (food, clothes, shelter, communications, transport). There is a written application form available here, or we'd all prefer if you just answered those questions in an email to us via our contact page.
